The Laowa Proteus 2X Anamorphic Flex is the unique 2X anamorphic set with user-changeable flare function.
The series becomes highly flexible and affordable, providing 4 different flare options to suit any production thanks to the modular design.
4 Flare Options
The Proteus Flex comes with a Proteus main body and 4 flare modules, including amber, silver, blue and clear versions.
By default, the lens is equipped with silver flares.
New Clear Flare
In addition to the colored flare versions, the Proteus Flex includes a new flare coating, Clear Flare, which produces minimal horizontal flare.
This is for DP who wants a cleaner and more elegant look.
Quick and easy flare module replacement
The flare module can be easily installed, replaced and screwed onto the main body of the Proteus.
The interchangeability process can be done by the user in 10 minutes and no additional optical calibration is required after the swap.
Patented anamorphic design
The Laowa Proteus is composed of anamorphic and spherical groups, with modern image sharpness and vintage anamorphic characteristics, such as elliptical bokeh and characteristic flares.
Constant anamorphic compression ratio
Both anamorphic and spherical groups are fixed, a variable front spherical glass is added to achieve focus.
A similar optical design is used in the Vantage Hawks, Cooke Anamorphic and Atlas Orion.
With a 2X compression ratio, you get 2.66:1 on a 4:3 sensor and 2.4:1 on a 6:5 sensor after decompression.
This makes it possible to crop an aspect ratio of 2.39:1, realizing an ultra-widescreen cinematic look, which is highly sought after by the film industry.
The compression ratio remains constant at any focusing distance to avoid anamorphic distortion.
Ultra-bright aperture
