Two Cinematic Looks from One Lens Set
The defining feature of the ATHENA PRIME Rewind is its ability to deliver two distinct optical personalities.
Wide open at T1.9, the lenses produce a warm, vintage character with amplified aberrations, softened resolution, and enhanced foreground and background blur complete with halo effects on highlights.
As the aperture is stopped down, these characteristics progressively diminish. By T2.8, cinematographers reach a balanced sweet spot between stylisation and sharpness, and by T5.6 to T8, the lens behaves close to a modern, clinically clean cinema lens.
This gives directors of photography an intuitive creative dial, allowing them to adjust the visual feel of every shot without swapping glass or adding filtration.

Signature Bokeh and Flare Character
At wide apertures, the Rewind lenses produce distinctive bubble bokeh with bright edges and darker centres in out-of-focus highlights, most pronounced on the 35mm and 50mm focal lengths.
This effect fades controllably by around T4.0, giving filmmakers precise control over background rendering.
Flare intensity is significantly increased over the standard Athena Prime, delivering warm-toned flares that add atmosphere and energy to backlit scenes, practicals, and direct light sources. Combined with retained barrel distortion across all focal lengths, the Rewind set creates an organic, analogue visual texture that sets it apart from modern corrected
optics.
