With the Laowa Aksen Ultra Macro APO series, Laowa redefines the possibilities of ultra-high magnification macro photography and cinematography.
The series includes two lenses designed to offer unprecedented control over macro shooting: the Laowa Aksen 45mm f/2.8 1-5× Ultra Macro APO (featuring a 1× to 5× magnification ratio) and the Laowa Aksen 17.5mm f/1.7 5-10× Ultra Macro APO (capable of reaching an incredible 10× magnification).

Parfocal internal zoom
With traditional variable-magnification macro lenses, changing the magnification ratio often requires repositioning the camera, adjusting the working distance, and reconfiguring the lighting.
The Aksen series eliminates this issue thanks to a fixed working distance (40.35 mm and 22.48 mm, respectively) and a parfocal internal zoom system.
You can increase or decrease magnification simply by turning the zoom ring, keeping the subject in focus while the lens's physical position remains unchanged.
The result is a faster, more efficient workflow, with consistent composition and lighting throughout the entire shooting sequence.
The lens barrel does not extend or retract, making it easier to work in space-constrained setups.

Fixed working distance
The Aksen 5-10× offers a fixed working distance of 22.48 mm.
This means that when changing magnification, there is no need to move the camera to maintain the correct distance from the subject. The ability to keep the camera position unchanged allows for the preservation of the framing, composition, lighting placement, and set configuration.
This is a particularly advantageous solution for complex macro shots, where even a slight shift might require readjusting the entire setup.
