Sigma 500mm F/5.6 (S) -AF DG DN OS Lens, Full Frame (Sony E) - 6030389

The SIGMA 500mm F5.6 DG DN OS | Sports is an ultra telephoto lens dedicated to mirrorless cameras with a focal length of 500mm and exceptional image quality in an extraordinarily compact and lightweight body.
By using multiple elements, made of low dispersion optical glass, which are large in diameter and require great craftsmanship in their manufacturing, SIGMA has managed to significantly reduce the size of the lens without the use of diffractive optical elements.
At the same time, the lens has achieved a high resolving power that meets all expectations of a 500mm prime lens.

The lens body, mainly composed of high-precision synthetic material parts, has excellent build quality and resistance to weather, dust and splashes*, despite its compact size.
With its remarkable resolving power and incredibly compact dimensions, despite its focal length, the practical SIGMA 500mm F5.6 DG DN OS | Sports offers a completely new photographic experience for nature photographers, aviation photographers, sports photographers and anyone who shoots fast-action subjects.
* The barrel is designed to resist dust and splashes of water, but is not waterproof.
Be careful not to wet the lens with large amounts of water.
The water inside it can cause serious damage and even make it unrecoverable.

° Compact lens with high level optical performance
The latest design method has allowed the optical scheme of a 500mm ultra-telephoto lens to be significantly downsized.
Using unique low dispersion convex lenses.
at the front of the lens, both high aberration correction and short length were achieved.
The high level of technology used at SIGMA's only factory, the Aizu plant, provides the precision necessary for the processing of the exclusive, high-brightness, low-dispersion glass elements.
The lens has excellent correction of all aberrations, especially axial chromatic aberration, which cannot be corrected via the camera menu.
With this solution a high resolution is obtained that goes from the center to the periphery of the image.

° Excellent backlight performance
The SIGMA 500mm F5.6 DG DN OS | Sports uses refractive lenses to prevent flare and ghosting characteristic of diffractive optical elements.
The images produced are not affected by flare or ghosting, even in backlit conditions or when a direct light source is included in the shooting field.
Furthermore, thanks to the most modern technologies, any defects caused by incident lights are reduced.

° High-speed AF with HLA linear motor
An HLA linear motor (high response linear actuator) is used for the actuator, which is characterized by its high precision thanks to advanced electronic control, as well as its silent operation.
HLA enables fast and precise autofocus, even in ultra-telephoto shots such as sports and birds, where extremely precise focusing is required.

° Optical stabilization with OS2 algorithm
The latest OS2 optical stabilization algorithm reaches up to 5.0 stops* of correction.
The lens features a two-mode operating system: Mode 1 is suitable for general shooting and Mode 2 is ideal for panning shots of motorsports and other sports.
In mode 2, the SIGMA intelligent operating system algorithm specially designed for panning shots offers effective image stabilization even when the camera is moved vertically or diagonally, regardless of horizontal or vertical orientation.
This ensures that the subject's movement can be captured without losing the panning effect.
