Sony FE 400-800mm F6.3-8 OSS E-mount Full-Frame Lens
The first 800mm G Lens super telephoto zoom.
The new model is designed to offer high performance in terms of resolution across the entire focal range, spectacular bokeh effects and a fast, precise and reliable autofocus (AF) system. What's more, the internal zoom movement minimizes variations in the center of gravity, stabilizing the frame.
The lens is compatible with Sony's 1.4x and 2x teleconverters[ii], which allow the maximum focal length to be extended up to 1,600mm, ideal for photographing birds, wildlife, sports, aircraft and landscapes.
800mm super-telephoto zoom
The FE 400-800mm F6.3-8 G OSS lens covers a wide focal length range from 400mm to 800mm, and can reach up to 1,600mm with a 2x teleconverter.
Thanks to the internal zoom mechanism, the length of the lens remains unchanged, maintaining a nearly constant center of gravity for stable handling and optimum control.
The rotation of the zoom ring is smooth and precise, while the carefully considered design prevents accidental changes in focal length.
Excellent image quality and natural bokeh throughout the focal range
The FE 400-800mm F6.3-8 G OSS super-telephoto lens features an 11-blade circular diaphragm that achieves smooth, uniform bokeh, with rounded highlights and soft backgrounds when shooting with a shallow depth of field. Six ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements effectively reduce chromatic aberration, while flare and reflections are eliminated in backlighting, resulting in simply beautiful shots.
Fast and precise AF to track even fast-moving subjects
The FE 400-800mm F6.3-8 G OSS lens's focusing group is driven by two precision linear motors to make focusing as fast and accurate as possible.
Tracking can keep pace with the Alpha 9 III's maximum continuous shooting speed of 120 fps[iii], while silent operation expands the usability possibilities.
A focal range limit switch (FULL/10m-NEAR/¥-8m) can also be used to optimize control according to the
