This distinct design is made possible by the inclusion of a Phase Fresnel element, which reduces overall weight by 50% and length by 16% compared to the previous F 800mm f / 5.6 mount lens.
Compact and lightweight design:
A sophisticated combination of technologies makes this super telephoto lens a relatively elegant lens, opening up new possibilities for a focal length that was previously relegated to the use of the tripod / monopod.
-The Phase Fresnel element not only compensates for chromatic aberrations and color fringes, but also replaces several conventional glass elements to promote a more compact and lighter optical layout.
Modest f / 6.3 maximum aperture strikes a balance between a practically bright design and lightweight construction
Compared to the previous 800mm f / 5.6 F-mount lens, which weighs over 10 lbs, this new 800mm f / 6.3 Z-mount lens weighs half at 5.25 lbs. Additionally, the mirrorless-specific design also contributes to an overall reduction in lens length, measuring just over 15 inches in length, compared to the previous lens measuring 18 inches in length.
S Line Optic:
Helping to virtually eliminate chromatic aberrations, color fringes and comic aberrations, this lens features three ED (extra-low dispersion) glass elements, along with an SR (short wavelength refractive) element.
SR element features a specialized high dispersion design that refracts wavelengths shorter than blue, this helps to achieve truly accurate color rendering and also helps to make the lens design more compact.
-Nano Crystal Coat has been applied for all-round anti-glare protection at all angles, helping to suppress ghosting, reflections and glare for higher contrast and more accurate color response when working in strong light
